Water Damage Restoration Services

There could be a few reasons for water damage in your home or business.  It may be caused by weather, plumbing problems, or problems with appliances such as a washing machine or a hot water heater.

However, there are some steps you can take to try to prevent flooding in the first place. Don't forget that these steps should not only be taken in your home, but also at any commercial location you may own.

  1. Find out what routine maintenance you should be doing on your appliances – for instance, some plumbers recommend washing machine hoses be replaced every 5 years. Other plumbers recommend doing this even more often.
  2. Insulate your pipes during the winter so they don't burst.  If you are going to be away for any period of time during the winter, you may want to turn the water off.
  3. If you do leave the water on, set your thermostat to at least 55 degrees to keep pipes from freezing, and leave under-the-sink cabinets open a bit so some of the warmth from the furnace gets to the water pipes.

Unfortunately, sometimes this kind of advice can come too late.  If you've had flooding in your home or business, your next step is to contact a water damager restoration specialist at Butler Restoration.
